Pullman/Delany

I hope Philip Pullman writes a long book soon. In the meantime I've satisfied myself with his most recent book, that takes place in the world of His Dark Materials trilogy, "Once Upon A Time in the North". It tells the story of how Iorek Byrnison and Lee Scoresby first meet, and is a fine one at that, told in his inimitable style.

I also read an excerpt from "The Splendor and Misery of Bodies of Cities"... the second part to Samuel R. Delany's proposed diptych, the unfinished sequel to the excellent "Stars in My Pocket Like Grains of Sand". The excerpt I read was from The Review of Contemporary Fiction, Vol. XVI, no. 3, 1996.
